Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma
I live in Oklahoma. I have a friend who is 17 years old and whose father is deceased. She is currently living with her stepmother who has a serious drug problem. My friend wants to move in with my mother and I to get away from the problems at home. How do we go about this situation?

Under situation such as abuse or failure to support a child, the child, particular one who is over the age of consent (16-years-old) the child can be freed of the power and control of another parent under emancipation laws. Particularly, if the stepmother did not adopt the child as her own. Emancipation can be executed by agreement between the parent and/or child or by the operation of the law, if you need or want to report the drug abuse. I hope this helps.
