Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma

Prenuptial agreement

If a prenuptial agreement document is filled out by both parties and is agreed upon. Is that all there is left to do is to have it notarize? After the document has been notarized what do you do with the document?

Re: Prenuptial agreement

Having it notarized is proper; you should do that. Beyond that, keep the document in case of disaster down the road. The only other thing you should be aware of is in regards to the validty and enforcability of the agreement.

Many prenups are signed; not all are valid. There are some practical steps and language in the agreement that will either make it valid, or make it arguably invalid down the road. To be as certain as possible, you should have an attorney review the document and steps you've taken so far to make sure you've actually entered into a valid agreement. Unfortunately, many prenups are challenged, and many fail.
