Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma

Property Settlement

I have been divorced for six years. I took a cash settlement in lieu of land, cattle, mineral rights etc. At the time I just wanted out after 27 years of marriage. Now the land we owned jointly is producing minerals. Is there any way I can get anything from him?

Re: Property Settlement

Probably not. You accepted what is called alimony in-lieu of property division. If, however, the property was not addressed in a divorce decree as to who receives the property, it remains the property of whomever it is titled in. Minerals go with land if the same was in the deed.
