Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma
rights
I recently married and moved to Fort Worth, TX. I have a lawyer retained in Oklahoma, and have since July. When i retained him we had a verbal agreement that we would be going after my ex for:
1. contempt on a court order
2. failure to pay childcare and medical at 60%.
3. child support in arrears.
4. modification of child support (he makes more money, i make less, and he now only has them about 2-4 overnights a month as opposed to the 122 nights c/h was originally based off of.)
It has been four months, several phone calls, messages, and emails, and nothing has been done or filed. About once every six weeks, after several calls, he will call me and tell me ''how busy he has been but has been reviewing my case and is ready to file and should have a court date in two weeks). Also during our calls, he spends most of his time talking about how he loves the coffee my place of employment sells. I know attorneys charge for time on the phone. How long is too long to wait for something to happen? I have fallen behind so far trying to pay bills and the sitter and my ex refuses to pay what he is ordered. Child support is now garnished. He pays $734 a month for three kids and makes over $6000 a month (from what i hear from his family)

Re: rights
If your attorney is not representing you properly, you should advise him in writing that you want to terminate representation and request a detailed billing of time spent along with return of your file.
