Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma

sibling custody

Well I need to know what the legal age to move out is in Oklahoma. We are trying to get custody of my younger half brother whose father is abbusive, sometimes physically always verbally. I was raised like that and I dont want to see my brother go through the same things I did. I have records showing that he has been violent in the past with my mother and myself, I pressed charges on him and they are still on file. I dont know what to do, any advice would be greatly appreciated... thank you

Re: sibling custody

First of all, if you have witnessed or have other evidence of child abuse, you should report it to the local law enforcement agency or the Dept of Human Services.

18 is the age of majority, but other factors can affect the age of emancipation. If your mother is considering pursuing custody, she will need to consult with her attorney. Custody issues are very complex and specific advice should be given only after a discussion and disclosure of all relevant facts.
