stepfather adoption

my son is almost 5 years old and my fiance has raised him since birth and wishes to adopt him. my sons real father was never put on the birth certificate. and has nothing to do with my son. can my fiance adopt him and how wound i go about doing it and what would be the average cost for him to do this?

Your fiance may be able to adopt the child. The question would be whether you would need the father's consent to the adoption or not.
