Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma

teenage emancipation

My 17 year old son is out of control - abusive in every respect except physically, although I am concerned about where it will lead in that regard. He out-weighs me by 70 pounds and routinely defies me. He doesn't want to be emancipated because he doesnt want to work. I want to put him out of the house and possibly get a restraining order, but due to his age, I am unsure of my options.

Re: teenage emancipation

Thanks for your question. I would suggest that you begin with the Tough Love organization. I have posted serveral internet addresses below which might provide some help.In some smaller communities you might approach the police department and discuss the situation with them. There are also many military style boarding schools that might take him if you have the finances to pay. I dont think that you will have much success getting the state juvenile authorities to take over for you unless he commits a crime. But at least you can talk to them. Good Luck. At least he is 17 and you only have to provide support for another year.
