Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma

Temporary Guardianships of Minor

My daughter at this time is in Tulsa, Ok. and I am in Phoenix, AZ. I sent my daughter to visit her grandmother (her fathers mom- but there was never a paternity test taken) about a year ago now. I ended up flying out to Tulsa bacause I was told they could not send her home due to financial issues. While I was out there I was served with papers stating that her grandmother petitioned the court to have temporary guardianship of my daughter. Due to the fact that I didn't make it to the hearing on time (but I did call & they actually went through w/ the hearing 10 minutes early) she was awarded the temp. guardianship. What I need to know is if my mother, the maternal grandmother & her husband, can they step in somehow as far as guardianship or some kind of custody? What can...or what do they need to do in order to obtain guardianship or even custody of my daughter?

Re: Temporary Guardianships of Minor

Thank you for your question. Your mother and father would seemingly have as much right to guardianship as paternal grandparents. Temporary guardianship can be terminated or a better guardian appointed by the court. I dont understand why you are willing that the grandparents spare for guardianship rather than fighting for your child back. It sounds like you were lured here in order to be served court papers. There are many ways that this could and should be attacked, possibly vacated and set aside.
