Legal Question in Family Law in Oklahoma
Terminating parental rights
My ex husband had chosen not to utilize his visitation rights or pay child support in the last 8 1/2 years. I want to make sure if something ever happens to me that my family would get custody of my 13 yr old and 9yr old children. How hard is it to have his parental rights terminated? I live in Oklahoma. Thanks

Re: Terminating parental rights
Based on the facts you presented, you have a statutory ground, i.e. failure to support children for an extend period, to terminate his parental rights. I suspect, however, that your parents or other close relative would have grounds to obtain a guardianship over dad regardless of whether you move to terminate his parental rights.
