Un-married father's rights

My brother and his girlfriend are living together and are expecting a child. They are not getting along, and she is threating that if they split up she will not tell him when she has the baby and will not put him on the birth certificate or let him have anything to do with the child. She has two children from a previous marriage, and he has one. He is a wonderful father and very much wants to be in this childs life also! He doesnt have alot of money and we have no idea what his rights are, or what he can do. Any help would greatly be appreciated! Thank you

He could file a Petiton for Paternity either before or after the birth. If he filed before, nothing substantive would be done in the case until after the birth. He probably would need to hire an attorney to get it done, however.
