I'm sorry, but there really aren't enough facts in your question for me to give a better answer; however, generally an employer can "write you up" for whatever they want. Much depends on the effect of writing you up. It could be as simple as the employer documenting your absence. Whether they hold it against you in some later adverse employment action may be important as the employer cannot retaliate against you for legitimately and properly taking advantage of a federally granted statutory right.
