Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Oklahoma
auto stolen from shop
I had an older car that needed an engine replaced. The mechanic had it for quite awhile. We were ok with that because we had asked him to look for a salvaged engine. One day a few months later we noticed the car was not at his lot. we thought he had found an engine so we called and he said he thought we had come to get it. we called the police and reported it. We had let the insurance lap because it was inoperable. Could we file with the shops insurance?

Full responsiblity rest with the lot if he is found negligent in his efforts to protect the vehicle and he had a responsibility to, at least, contact you immediately after he noticed it was missing. This sounds suspicious if it was not reported to you until a three month lapse.
