Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Oklahoma

Debt of a 16 year old

My daughter, who is 16 years of age, worked in a pro shop at a golf course. While she worked there, she purchased a driver from the owner with the agreement that they would take payments out of her paychecks until it was paid. Before she finished paying for it, they let everyone go and hired all new people. Thus, no more checks for them to take payments. My daughter has not been able to make any more payments until she gets another job. They are trying to say I owe for the driver, though I never signed anything and had nothing to do with her buying it. Do I legally owe for the driver or is it still my daughter's debt and they need to be making arrangements with her?

Re: Debt of a 16 year old

No. First of all your daughter is not of legal age to enter into a contract agreement, particularly, without you consent. Additionally, there are questions as to how and why the owner attached the agreement and payment to her payroll if it is not directly association or required to perform her job. In order to address this question we will need more information. In the meantime, based on the information you provided, the Contract is not legally binding.
