Effects of damages ruling on personal property
If damages, punitive or otherwise, are awarded against us, can they take personal items from our home, or our home to sell as part of the monetary settlement?

Re: Effects of damages ruling on personal property
As a general rule and with some limitations, you are entitled to certain exemptions against a forced sale, attachment or garnishment by a creditor. Not knowing more about the lawsuit or whether any of the personal items were involved in the transactions which are the subject of the lawsuit, I would be unable to give a more definitive opinion. A list of exemptions in Oklahoma is found in the statutes beginning at 31 O.S. 1. You may review these yourself at the following site: www.oscn.net
