Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Oklahoma
I am eing sued in Civil Court for Replevin of personal property given to me by a tenant in my home. He choose to leave, came back, got his clothing, and other things. He had given me his furniture, while living in my home as part of a verbal agreement in lieu of rent. Do I have any recourse for keeping the furniture which is in my pocession?

Yes. You can assert your ownership rights by virtue of the barter. You will need to appear at the hearing and present evidence in support of your claim. Your testimony is evidence, but any corroborating evidence you can present will greatly increase your chances of being successful. It would be especially helpful if you can present any rent payment records that show the credit for the furniture.
