Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Oklahoma

Oil/Gas leases

My Father left us some oil leases that he received royalties on. When the leases were sold, the purchasing company quit paying us our royalties and even sold 80% of our royalties to another company. The total value of the money owed us would be less than $5,000.00 so it's not a huge sum. The company that basically stole our royalties admits that they made a mistake and are willing to pay us for the 20% that still thought they owned, but don't think they are obligated to do anything about the 80% that they sold. I have been working with them for almost a year and have not been getting very far. Was just wondering if it's my responsibility to track down the rights they illegally sold or if it's their job since they created this mess? I am disturbed that they profited from the sale of our family royalties that they didn't own and now don't feel that they owe us anything for the portion they sold. Just wondering where I stand and what options I could pursue? Thanks.
