Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Oklahoma

Summons

My husband has a certified summons awaiting his signature at the post office. 7 years ago, he dated a woman, she was abusive in the relationship, he had to get a restraining order against her. A week ago, a man contacts my husband, he married this woman, they have two children, he is being abused physically by her. He is in the process of a divorce/child custody hearing next week. My husband was contacted by this man, he researched his wifes background and saw where my husband had to get a restraining order aginst her 7 years ago. My husband told him and his lawyer he doesn't want to go to court but my husband did inform them about the abuse she did to him. My husband lives in Oklahoma and these court proceedings are in Arkansas. If my husband does not accept the lawyers certified summons to appear in court, on behalf of this man trying to get custody of his children, will their be a warrant issued for my husbands arrest if he does not accept the letter and appear in court? Thank You

Re: Summons

As a general rule, a state court subpoena is good anywhere in that state, but not outside the state. You might have your husband contact the attorney and discuss the same with him.
