Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Oklahoma

uncomplicated divorce?

i am a 26 year old male who has filed for a divorce from my 24 year old wife. i moved out of the house 5 months ago and left her everything but my clothes and my music equipment. i continued to pay bills on the rented house until she found another place (about 2 months).

she is claiming that i abandoned her and is refusing to sign papers. we don't have any significant assets and all of our debt is in my name.

i have filed a motion for a status conference. how do i keep things as uncomplicated as possible? i don't want anything she has and we have lived separated for 5 months and i have given her everything she has asked for.

can a judge make her sign papers at the status conference? how can i avoid going to trial as i don't have the money to hire a lawyer and the total amount of things that could be disputed are worth less then what our lawyer fees would be.

how do i avoid getting a run around? what is the best way to present my case the judge?

thanks

Re: uncomplicated divorce?

You may be unable to completely avoid complication, as these proceedings often get that way. Your basic strategy should be to provide as evidence any documents, including summary of conversations with dates and a thoughtful, non-argumentative chronology of events, supporting your position. I don't believe the judge will "make her sign documents," and if pressed you may need to consider retaining an attorney.
