Legal Question in Health Care Law in Oklahoma
Going to a nursing home for care
If I have a will and my wife has to go to the nursing home (we are low income and she has some DHS help), can they make us sell our home to pay for her care.

Re: Going to a nursing home for care
There are many factors to be considered in regards to what the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA, Medicaid) requires for supporting nursing home care, and attempting to answer the question in a bulletin board forum would be too involved. I can suggest you talk with OHCA directly for their assessment, and ask if they have a suggestion for an attorney who deals with this unique segment of law. You may want to consider getting some estate planning advice before taking other steps.
