Legal Question in Insurance Law in Oklahoma
Life Insurance Claim
I am trying to claim life insurance on a divorced (legally) spouse. It is a small dependent life policy I carried through my employer. Neither of us re-married. We maintained a relationship after the legal divorce. My employer is telling me they may not honor the life insurance since it should have been dropped after the divorce. They are saying they should have caught this on the change form when I dropped him from my health insurance, but they did not and have taken my premiums all this time. Can they legally deny this claim?

Re: Life Insurance Claim
I handle these type of claims (ERISA claims) all of the time. They probably owe you the policy proceeds. What they are counting on is that you will not pursue it becuase there is not enough money involved. To give a complete answer I need more information.
