Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Oklahoma

Regarding copyright and resale of intellectual property

I assume that intellectual property covers copyright questions. In the resale of such property, such as used books or musical scores, are royalties still due and is resale of such items a violation of copyright law? For example, Bob has 12 copies of ''The Christmas Song'' and places it for sale on the internet or on a used book store shelf. Has he violated copyright and royalty rights and how would one make it legal.

Re: Regarding copyright and resale of intellectual property

The copyright owner's right extends only to the first sale of the work. That buyer (assuming he does nothing else to the work, like rearranging, copying, etc.) can resell it freely.
