Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Oklahoma
Is it illegal for a news station to post a picture in a story that reveals the entire tag number of a vehicle involved in an accident?

As a Franchise Attorney I agree with the other attorney answer. It's a first amendment issue and the media can report what it wants, especially a public accident. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.

First attorney is right, NO. Second attorney should have stopped after his 1st sentence. He is wrong in stating that the media can report what it wants - that is very bad over-generalized advice which could get a media person sued. For example, the media cannot knowingly publish false defamatory information, even if "it wants". The media cannot knowingly report currently military classified secrets, even if "it wants". The media is restricted on what it can report as regards minors and children. This is one of the risks of lawguru, lawyers can publish answers outside their area of expertise and in trying to self-promote may not know when to stop.
