Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Oklahoma

Is it legal for me to read news articles, such as from CNN or Fox News, taking only the facts and summarize them into fully my own words, then post the summaries I created into my website while also using the pictures from the same website or different sites? How would adding some small advertisements affect this situation?

Facts are not protected under copyright (or any other IP) law.

Photos are most definitely protected under copyright law, and the online sources for photographs may very well make their living through the sale and licensing of those rights. Thus, they protect their rights rabidly.

An income stream is immaterial to a finding of copyright infringement, though its existence may affect the remedies for that infringement that would be available to the rightsholder.
