Can an employer make an employee pay the deductable for the damage to a company vehicle that was driven on company time due to an accident?

The ''deductable'' is just a figure the

boss made up, apparently he only has

the basic liability on his vehicles. The boss states that for each accident an employee has the have to pay $500.

Under federal law, the Fair Labor Standards Act would likely only be violated if the deduction was to cause your compensation to fall below the minimum wage rate of $5.15 per hour. Your individual state's law may vary, so you should consult an attorney to learn what rights you may have.
