Legal Question in Employment Law in Oklahoma
Should I receive a severence package
I will have been with this company 4 years December 1st, I was promoted to ''regional quality assurance RN'' in June, 2006. My new supervisor was hired apx 2 months ago and has hired her friend for a position similar to mine. I was told yesterday that my ''position wasn't in the 2007 budget''. I have done an excellent job and have nothing negative in my employee file...they're so kind as to offer ''excellent letters of recommendation'' and have offered me a charge nurse position (for less than 1/2 my current salary) and a Director of Nursing position 90 miles from my home (for 'a considerable pay cut'). Should I ask for a severence package and in what amount would be fair. I currently make $40.61/hr (about $85,000/yr).

Re: Should I receive a severence package
I would need to see any contract evidence for your employment, including correspondence emails or employee handbooks/manuals.
General rule is 1 month of severance for every year of service, but unemployment or other comp can reduce that. ALso varies by industry. Any claim of discrim? Age, Sex, etc.?
Call or email for further assistance.
