i have been cheated
my husband and i rented an apartment in a 6 month lease, we paid all our bills ,gave our thirty day notice and today received a bill for replacement of carpet,not cleaning toilets and sinks when we did and painting, can they charge this legally, when the apartments had it posted that they were renovating the property even though can they charge this when they kept my 100 dollar deposit, the bill is 1060.00 and we cleaned toilets,sinks,cleaned carpet and no painting except ,maybe cover ups of some crayon was needed.

To advise you I would have to review your lease and any move-out reports or inspection sheets, and photos ( LL's usually take digital photos these days.)
THis would be billable.
