Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Oklahoma
My friend and his wife are renting a house. Their landlord raised their rent so that he could make repairs and do some remodeling to the home. Since then now repairs or remodel work has been done to the house. However they have been paying the higher rate for the past few months. No new rental agreement was made for the higher rate. Their rent is due on the 15th of the month and their landlord called them on the 10th or 11th and asked for the rent. My friend told him no do to the fact he raised their rent for repair and remodel but no work has been done. So he wanted to know where the extra money went and why he had to pay a higher rate for work that wasn't being done. He didn't get much of an answer. Now they are being evicted by their landlord and have till the 16th of the month to get out of the home. The home was willed to their landlord and his sister. Is it legal for this guy to do this to them and why?

Not only is this illegal but it is unethical. Your answers to this can be found in a copy of the Oklahoma Landlord/Tenant Act. I hope this helps.
