Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Oklahoma

Mice Invasion

Can I break my lease if my apartment has become infested with mice? I have caught three mice inthe last 36 hours, and we put in a complaint a week ago today. Called and made complaint on Monday, Roommate called and checked Wednesday and put in a work oder (again), and other roommate called back on Friday and they still hadn't done anything with it.

Re: Mice Invasion

If the dwelling is considered to be unhealthy and unsafe AND you have notified the landlord in writing of the problems (which are unhealthy),you may have the right to break the lease agreement.

Otherwise, the Landlord has 10 days to correct the problem and you have the option of paying for the removal of these pests and deducting from your rent (under $100). Either way, it is recommended that you make these your requests to remove them by letter and send it to the Landlord to remove the rodents. This will serve as documentation as to why you broke the lease, if applicable.
