Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Oklahoma
My roommate I just moved in with in May has decided to move out of state and gave me a 24hour notice to move out and pay what I owe her. If I were to have a police officer escort me to my house would I be allowed to get my belongings?
1 Answer from Attorneys
We are not clear on the circumstances surrounding your agreement and you did not say whether or not a lease is involved. Therefore, we will attempt to answer your question based on an assumption that the roommate has paid rent for May and June and is requesting repayment of his/her based on his/her decision to break your agreement and move elsewhere. If this is the case, he/she broke the agreement or lease' he/she is not entitled any payments and you are entitled to full possession with or without him/her and without forcible entry.
