Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Oklahoma

Alleged breach of confidentiality

If an employee tells a customer that he/she ''...heard [a fellow employee] went to drug rehabilitation...'' is that considered a breach of confidentiality (in a broad sense)? No personally identifiable information other than the victim's first name were given to the customer and the rumor is a true fact. Thanks!

Re: Alleged breach of confidentiality

Yes. It is also unethical. Any information related to medical or employee assistance interventions by or to fellow employees or others should be protected as confidential. Unless, otherwise stipulated as a condition of employment.
