Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Oklahoma
My wife is a pharmacist and does some expert witness work on the side. I have a facebook account and put pics of my kids and grandkids on there nothing controversial. My kids (whom Im linked to) do have some questionable stuff on their pages, but theyre in their 20s and 30s and I dont worry about it reflecting on me. Theres nothing anywhere that I know of that puts me or my wife in a bad light. My wife is worried that she might be in trial under cross-examination and have the kids facebook pages and their bad behavior thrown up in her face to discredit her. She wants me to close my facebook account. I think thats shes being paranoid, but I dont ever go to trials and have no experience to back up my opinion. I would definitely NOT want to threaten income that she might be able to make, but I cant imagine a witness being damaged by what their grown children have on their internet pages unless that material directly reflected badly on the parent like the kids claimed child abuse or alcoholism or drug use by the parent. Do you have trial experience that shows that simply being linked to a mis-behaving family member could hurt a witnesses reputation?

There are many articles, publications and media on this topic. The census is that these social sites are damaging to the parent children alike and it could be a reflection on the parent even if it is not right or fair. Most employers are using the social sites as tools for good hiring practices and some have been damaged for life because of bad or questionable photos so it is recommended that you a and others take these sites in consideration when any family members reputatio is at stake because all of us have a social and ethical responsibility when we are put under the microscope. .
