A complaint can be amended. there are many things that can be done to fix any problems with a lawsuit that a non lawyer starts on their own. However, the complaint is very important and if you fail to include a claim that eventually turns out to be necessary, the court could rule that the statute of limitations with respect to that claim has run. In addition it is not always easy tp calculate what the end date of the Statute of limitations is with out the help of an attorney.
