Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Oklahoma
Apartment lease agreement
I recently signed a lease agreement and put down a $500 deposit. The day after we sighted the lease we realized that we did not want to take the apartment for a number of reasons. the next day day 48 hours after signing the lease I called the apartment manager back and told her of our concerned and let her know that we wanted out of the lease. she said that she wasn't sure how much of the deposit she would be able to give back.
I t has now been about three weeks and she has yet to give us a response. My question is: do I legally have an amount of time after signing a lease to back out of it and not lose my deposit?
i appreciate any help you can give.

Re: Apartment lease agreement
Thank you for your question. You asked whether you have a 48 hour or other period of time to change your mind about an apartment lease. It appears that this was not a contract solicited from you at your home and therefore a 48 hour time to reflect and change your mind does not apply. As to what and how much, if any, of your deposit will be returned, I could not say without looking at your paperwork or spending some time discussing with you exactly what written or verbal commitments/promises were made. You may find that the Landlord will bill for additional months rents if he fails to get the premises re rented.
