Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Oklahoma

Home Buyer Advocates

The warranty on our new home will expire in a few days and we're having dishwasher problems; however, I suspect the problem may be from an earlier plumbing problem when pipes had to be re-routed into the attic. It'll be next week before anyone can look at our dishwasher. What are my options if the problem with the dishwasher is found to be caused by faulty plumbing and my house warranty has expired? During the past year, we've had electrical and heater problems, in addition to plumbing problems. I believe we were sold an inferior product and need to know what our options are, if any, other than suing, should we continue to have problems.

You should make a list of the problems and send them by certified mail to whoever warrantied the home. Or check your warranty to see how notice of warranty issues are to be sent. Just because repairs may come after the warranty expires does not mean they are not covered under the warranty if they arise and are reported during the warranty period.
