Property sold out from underneath use.
I was in the process of buying land from my father-in-law and they sold the land from underneath use without giving use the chance to finish paying for the land or buy the land. I was wondering what legal things that I can do to get the money that I gave them for the land back.

The County Clerk maintains copies of all documents which concern title to property. If you had filed a copy of your agreement with the County Clerk, you may be in a position to force the property to be sold to you. If you did not, then all you can due is sue your father-in-law for return of your money plus any profit that he made based on the price that was paid as compared to the price you were suppose to pay. For instance if you were to pay $10000 and it was sold for $15000, the $5000 should be yours.
