Social Security for Military?

My husband is 38. He has been disabled for over 2 years now...with constant surgeries. The military has taken part of his pay away in the past because he cannot work. He will lose that pay permanently soon. Eventually, my husband will be medical boarded, and will get VA benefits....probably 100%. He will never work again. Are we eligible for benefits? I had to quit my job to take care of him. What can we get from Social Security both now and after he recieves benefits from the VA? Will our two children be eligible for benefits? When should we apply?

VA benefits usually exceed SS benefits. You may have to pursue the VA benefits through hearings also. You can make a claim for SS benefits while you are waiting on results of the VA decision.
