Legal Question in Tax Law in Oklahoma

Four years ago I purchased, and paid for in full, hearing aid devices from a reputable local audiology clinic. This week the same clinic sent me an invoice for $368 claiming it was for state taxes that they failed to collect at the time of my purchase. Am I legally responsible for this state tax even after 4 years later?

Interesting question. Obviously the shop got a sales tax audit and is in a lot of trouble and trying to recover what they can from their customers. I bet they own tens of thousands of dollars and facing criminal liability.. They probably don't have a lot of recourse after four years against you; they're the ones in trouble with the state, not you. They have no recourse against you, unless there's an OK law on point which I don't know about, because I'm in New York. You might want to give them half if they're otherwise good guys. Yes they should have asked for the sales tax years ago which you would have paid. So half I think is fair.

Good luck.
