Legal Question in Traffic Law in Oklahoma

statue of limitations

I just moved back to TX from FL where I have been living since 1993. When I arrived in TX I went to the DPS to get a TX drivers licence. During the process I was told that I had a speeding ticket in OK on 6/18/1982!!!!! The ticket was for going 75 in a 55. I do not recall ever geting this ticket.

When I called OK they said I had to pay it, which has now gone up to over $250. I told them that there must be a mistake. Whoever got this ticket knew my full name & birthday. I called a couple of attornys in OK & they all told me to go ahead & pay it because it would be cheaper than hiring a lawyer. Is there any better options???? please email me ...thank you

Re: statue of limitations

I agree with the other attorneys you asked. It would seem that although not fair if you were not guilty of commiting the offense, your best resolution to the matter would be to pay the ticket.
