Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Oklahoma

My dad (89) is a resident of Oklahoma. I am a resident of Texas. My Dad lived with my family in Texas for about 3-4 months and signed a Declaration of Guardian and a Power of Attorney while he was here. He later decided to return to Oklahoma.

I'd like to know if Oklahoma recognizes a Texas POA as valid/durable or should I get an Oklahoma POA and Declaration of Guardian? There are siblings living in Oklahoma that would like to gain control of his affairs, but I am the eldest and my Dad said he would prefer that I be the one to handle things for him.

Thanks.

Yes, the Power of Attorney is valid as is the nomination of guardianship. If you Dad prefers you to the be guardian and he is ready to have a guardian, then file it in the county where he is living but with his consent. Your lawyer will notify all interested parties including your father.
