How Do You Find The Attorney That is in Charge of a estate?

My Grandma just passed away and had 2 surviving daughters (one my mother) and we do not know how to find out who is handling the will and property. There was quite a lot of property. Because of a a situation it is not possible to ask my mom's sister, who is in charge. what do you sugest? Short of calling every attorney in The Tulsa ares we don't know what to do. My mom is sure that she is named in the will as are her 4 children and grandchildren. My mother's sister had power of attorney during grandma's illness. but we are unsure if it is still in affect.

A probate proceeding must be filed in the county where the person died or had property which is subject to probate. A check at the county courthouse in the county or counties in which either of these criteria applies should reveal the name of the attorney. It may be that none has been filed if her death occurred very recently. A power of attorney is terminated by the death of the person who gave it. Oklahoma law requires any person in possession of a Will to file it with the court within 30 days after knowledge of the person's death. If probate proceedings have not been started, your mother can file and be appointed Administratrix. At least on a temporary basis and until a hearing can be conducted. As a potential heir you also could do this. That is my recommendation to you.
