Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Oklahoma

Lost Inheritance

My mother grandparents were killed and property was stolen. Her father and his brother was to inherit property. Before grandfather was killed, he hired an attorney to speak for him and his sons. When grandfather was killed, judge ordered property not to be sold and minors not be removed. Attorney has two accounts in his name for the then minors. Before another court hearing could be set, attorney was killed. There are court documents along with property ownership. How does she proceed in re-claiming the property and finding out where these two accounts exist.? Thank you

Re: Lost Inheritance

If the attorney was in charge of accounts then his office should have the account numbers in your father's file. If there is no longer an office then the court in the county where your father lived might have a record of the transactions. It might be a place to start. If that doesn't work try to find out where this attorney's office went with all of the files. Even though someone is killed doesn't mean all of the work he is doing disappears. The state bar for the state where he practiced law might know what happened to his case files. So first try to find this attorney's office. Then try the court and research under your grandfather's name. Then call the State Bar and explain your situation and they might be able to find where this attorney's files went. The State Bar will probably help the most because this involves an attorney and his client files.
