Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Oklahoma

property dispute

My grandfather is currently terminally ill. He has been in an assisted living home for 2 yrs. He was recently hospitalized. The hospital has stated that he may not return to the assisted living but has to be put into a full care nursing home. It was explained at this time that the state may be authorized to seize any property currently in my grandfather's possession to compensate for any costs medicare does not cover and are not paid for by his cash-on-hand. The family is wanting to sell the home to compensate for any additional costs. There is a will leaving the home to a family member, but my understanding is that this will not matter if the state comes into the picture. Please help me. We do not want the state taking this matter over.
