Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

I divorced from my ex husband in 2009. I did not take anything from the marriage of 11 1/2 years. In our divorce decree i signed over all said properties and household items giving him full responsibility of everything we owned... I never went to a bank with him or by myself to sign for any documents to be added to the deed or loans on the home, Now it is on my credit history that I owe for a home I dont live in or ever sign contracts for, yet it shows my signature how can I dispute this to clear my credit and be taken off as a co-signer for a home I never signed paper work on,, I beleive he may have forged my name??

Thank you FED UP!

You need to file a dispute with the credit bureau, contact the mortgage holder and get copies of the loan documents. (which it appears you have seen???) It is important that you do all of this in writing, or if you have phone calls keep the date you speak with anyone, the person's name and diary of what you discussed. If this is fraud, you may need to file a criminal action against him.

However, if you were ever on the loan with him, your divorce decree did not take you off the loan. The creditor may still have you on the loan legally - find out where the documents notarized, when where they signed, and on and on. . . Does he still live in the home???

This may take a lot of work and costs to get cleared up. It points out how important it is to get a credit report soon after a divorce. Because it all happened a long time ago, it may be difficult to prove that you did not sign the documents.

Good luck.

What you need is not a divorce lawyer, but a lawyer that works with credit issues. . . .
