Legal Question in Banking Law in Oregon

Can my bank account be frozen for an overdo debt ?

My checking account was recently frozen, because a law firm in NY state sent a legally signed request to my bank. How legal is this, and can I take action against them for doing that and making me look bad to my bank ?

Sounds like your bank account was garnished. Assuming the funds in the bank accounts were not exempt, and even then there is some dispute over this, creditors can do this. Check with an attorney if you have further concerns.
