Legal Question in Banking Law in Oregon

Joint Checking

I have a joint checking account with my grandmother who passed away four years ago. I assumed the rights to it passed solely to me when she died as my ssn, signature, etc are all on the account. I also thought whoever handled her estate notified the bank, but now realize that was my responsibility. Am I going to be in trouble because I did not tell them right away?

Re: Joint Checking

If truly a joint POD account, there should be no issue. As long as both of you were entitled to withdraw and write checks, you were legally entitled to act in control of the account.

Did she have substantial debts at the time of death?
