Legal Question in Business Law in Oregon

What happens when defendent doesnt comply with judgment?

I won a small claims case, with judgment being part money part materials, equal to max small claims allows. The date for delivery of the materials is past, the defendent did not keep the appointment and called the same day of apptmt trying to arrange another deal different than the judgment. The judge said if they didn't show or did not bring substantial amt of materials to come see him again. The DEF now wants to make small payments and Keep the materials to sell, or use for another project writing a notorized promisary note without seeing the judge. What happens when I go to the judge and tell him they didn't show? What does the DEF have to gain by now wanting to pay all the funds and keep the materials, other than use of the materials on another job. I have no reason to believe I will ever see a dime or the materials from this person.

Collecting on judgments is often difficult. At least you do know where the defendant is located, and he has not left town.

You could hire an attorney to collect the judgment. She would trace his assets and place liens on them and garnish his wages, if he has a job.

There are a variety of entities that claim to be able to collect judgments. You can find them by googling "oregon judgment collection" or similar terms. Some of them charge you a percentage of the judgment itself, so if they do not collect for you, it costs you nothing.
