Legal Question in Business Law in Oregon

Electronic vs. Paper Files

I work for a privately-held company in Oregon. Can we convert client files containing service agreements, applications, etc. from paper to electronic and destroy the paper? Are electronic files as ''legal'' as paper files?

Do a google search for "document retention policy." This should bring up a good American Bar Association article on this subject (www.abanet.org/lpm/lpt/articles/ftr01045.html), as well as other sample document retention policies.
