I had file a tort claim with my employer how long will the tort notice be in affect for me to act on it it was file on 6-08 this is a big company and is union

You have 2 years to file a lawsuit for a tort committed against you, measured from the date that the tort happened (or that you found out about it, if it was not obvious at the time it happened). It does not matter when you gave your employer notice of it, unless by "notice" you mean that you served the lawsuit on your employer.
