Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Oregon

Postal Employee Harrasment Of Customers Mailing Items

The clerk at the Post Office refused to mail

insured packages because I hadn't filled out

the name & address of the person I was sending

it to on the back of the insurance receipt (even

thought the city, state and zip is listed on the front

from the computer). NOTE: This is for the

customers records only to assist with filing a

claim. He refused to service and closed his

window until the forms were filled out. I returned to

the post office, withforms filled out with the

contents and Ebay Auction # so I could easily look

up the address if I ever had to file a claim. Today I

go to ''his'' window with all the forms all filled out.

He insured the first one, then recognizing who i

was looked at the forms and claimed that they

weren't legible for him to read, or that i put

last name first instead of first name last and

refused to finish the trasaction until the forms

were filled out to HIS satisfaction. I believe this is

a blatent form of harrassment and I am

wondering if I am able to have a chance in civil

court against him/the post office for harrassment.

No, you really don't have a case because you don't have money damages. In other words, nothing this creep did cost you any money, and even if it did, it would have to cost you a bundle to make a lawsuit worthwhile.

Now, if you want this to stop have a friend stand in line behind you and witness this behavior, and then both of you go see the Postal Inspector or the manager of the postal facility where this harassment is taking place.

The law is really the implement of the last resort in a situation like this one.
