Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Oregon
Small Claims
I just went to small claims court and lost. I have to pay $784.10, however I am a single mom and bearley make enough to survie. The judge stated that the other party can attach my wages to get his money. How do I either stop or control how much they take?

Re: Small Claims
Your state may allow you to make an agreement to pay.
Ask the court clerk if there is a petition to make installment payments. The only thing is, with this sort of deal, if you miss a payment, you may find that the person you owe has the immediate right to garnish your bank account. You might also find that your bank account is garnished immediately, so don't wait.
If the creditor agrees (such as through mediation) to let you pay over time, that would work for the court. But, get it in writing and signed before you act on it.
